Twins

These two funny people are Nicky and Pedro. They were the teacher/assistant for the third grade Vacation Bible School class this year. It is tradition at our church to have each day designated for something special. This picture was taken on Twin Day. That's Pedro's real hair! The two of them were the talk of VBS for the rest of the week after this stunt. The matching Muppets t-shirts were a perfect touch! After I laughed my head off, I thought about how this is a perfect object lesson for us.

Nicky made every effort in her power to look like Pedro. It is obvious there were some things about herself she could not change, but she was willing to do her best with what she had. She knew she'd never pass for Pedro, but it didn't stop her from trying. You can tell by just looking at her that she not only resembles Pedro, she enjoyed the process of getting that way!

We are called to do the same thing...well, sort of.

Even with our best efforts, we will never look exactly like God. No one will ever mistake us for the real thing, but that shouldn't stop us from trying. Wouldn't it be cool to know that when people look at us, they recognize our resemblance to Him? Even better, when they see us, wouldn't it be great if they saw someone who enjoyed the process of getting that way?
