Put Another Nickel in....

For those of you who have MP3 players, here's some interesting news:

The gist of the article is that Integrity Music just agreed to make their music available for download at a new Christian Music download site.

"faithMP3, which is currently in a trial phase, will sell mp3s which will work for almost all digital music players including iPods and mp3-enabled cell phones. The emergence of this company comes at an advantageous time as the market for digital media has increased drastically over the last year."

The actual website for faithMP3 is not listed in the article, but I did a bit of sleuthing and found their beta site for you to check out. If I had an MP3 player, I'd frequent this place. I like the idea that they are using a downloading system called "freedom MP3." It allows music to be downloaded for many different types of MP3 players, including the ubiquitous ipod, but does not allow the downloaded music to be widely distributed after download. These artists should recieve proper financial compensation for their efforts.
I've met people who don't want to face the fact that loading music onto your MP3 player that you didn't pay for is stealing. It is just like walking into your local 7-11, picking up a KitKat and walking out the door without paying. As Christians, we are held to a high standard, but sometimes we are tempted to take the easy way. What kind of testimony are we showing to the world if our behavior looks just like the world? We must be different, go against the grain, and strive to obey God's laws for us, even when it is inconvenient. Good for faithMP3 for doing what they can to keep us honest.

Here's the link to their beta site: faithMP3

And for those of you who have no idea why I would title this entry "Put another nickel in" , look here and listen to the song "Music, Music, Music" in the music library at that site.

Btw, "Nickelodeon" is an antique word for Jukebox. A Jukebox is an old fashioned word for a box you put money in to hear a song. Kind of a pay-as-you-go boom box. Or a pay-per-song CD player. I wonder if there are some of you who have never heard of any of these items. Man, I'm old.
